Remember the time we…

Last week, I spent four days in a beautiful mountain cabin—a big treat for this flatland Florida girl! It was a special trip to celebrate my friend Heather’s 50th birthday, and I had the honor of leading a collaborative birthday ritual. As each woman shared memories, blessings, and words of love, we created a sister circle that reminded me just how precious friendships are.

I was also inspired to reach out to my friend Jim and reminisce about a great memory we shared in 2016. Both experiences—hearing others' memories of Heather and sharing my own with Jim—left me feeling deeply connected, uplifted, and full of gratitude. Turns out, reliving good memories isn’t just heartwarming; it’s actually good for us- physically and emotionally.

  • It strengthens our relationships and reminds us of what truly matters.
  • It shifts our focus to joy, gratitude, and connection—even in hard times.
  • It helps us feel more included, even in stories we weren’t originally part of.
  • It literally boosts our brain chemistry, reducing stress and increasing resilience.

With my dad’s Alzheimer’s, I’m also especially aware of how storytelling helps keep traditions, histories, and identities alive—stimulating the brain and combating loneliness.

So here’s my invitation to you: Reach out to someone today and say, “Remember that time we…?” See what happens. Let the warmth of that moment remind you how rich life is.

And if you could use more of that reflection and connection, I’d love for you to join me for my Spring Equinox Ritual & Circle on Friday, March 21st, at 1 PM EDT (replay available if you can’t join live!).

One of the things we’ll be doing is reflecting on the hidden wisdom of winter—including finding moments of goodness, even in difficult seasons. I know firsthand that the things we most need—stillness, reflection, and intention—are often the things we resist. But taking this time for yourself will help you feel more grounded, more present, and more in tune with the life you want to create.

Looking forward to welcoming Spring with you.
